Social Reform-Status of Women during Stalin's rule

Since the dawn of civilization, women always had limited access to education, employment, and especially political rights. In consequence, we are always seen as no more than housewives who are only capable for caring for children, and the house. Many more women before us fought for their right to many things such as education, employment, and political rights but never succeeded and receiving those rights. As a women living under the glorious rule of Joseph Stalin, I have witnessed huge developments in the status of women. While women still continue to be harassed and treated of lesser value than men, the status of women is changing dramatically. Now, more girls have access to education as opposed to previous generations. Women like you and I, have more rights in employment, and are hired at a larger scale than ever before. Access to divorce has certainly become harder to obtain, but our admirable leader Joseph Stalin made sure to make access to divorce harder for the noble cause of uniting families and creating a sense of unity in our society. As the great leader that he is, under the rule of Stalin we are the first generation of women to give birth in hospitals with prenatal care. Before and during the rule of Stalin, women’s political rights increased immensely. Not only are women allowed to vote, but more and more women are given access to positions of power within a political party. In world war II the shortage of workers was addressed by encouraging women into work. By 1937 40% of the industrial workforce was women, compared to 28% in 1927. For the soviet population of women our triumphant leader Joseph Stalin has made remarkable changes in the status of women allowing for equal access to education, employment, and political rights as opposed to previous leaders. With the help of Joseph Stalin, our generation of women has indeed succeeded in achieving more liberal rights.
